Summary


I have more than 25 years of experience in various responsibilities as an independent contractor:

Commercial Deal making

Strong skills in detecting and defining customers' needs and requirements as well as the translation of these needs into ICT solutions and services. I take pride in my ability to combine these solutions and services into correct and adequate quotations to meet the requirements of the customer.

Roles:

  • Solution Lead (accountable for the end-to-end solution) in the context of complex ICT bids for large corporate customers;
  • Financial Manager (P&L owner) in the context of large, multidiscipline ICT bids;
  • Business developer (lead detection & generation).

Creative Deal making

Complex deals require a lot of out of the box thinking, recombining and innovating components into new solutions.

Roles:

  • Service Architect (according to the ITIL best practices) in the presales phase of large ICT projects;
  • Technical ICT Infrastructure Architect integrating various components into a solid solution;
  • Business Consultant, including business process modelling;
  • IT Service Management (ITSM) process modeller and manager.

Security Governance & Risk Management

Policy making, translating and implementing (embedding into business processes).

  • Risk Manager identifying, quantifying and prioritising risk in a structured way.;
  • Security Manager on a security governance level defining policies, standards, guidelines, processes and procedures.

Program & Project Management

Managing a complete portfolio of simultaneous projects, including the guidance of individual projects, which is a necessary requirement to support the above.

Technical knowledge


My preferred responsibilities are outlined in the summary. However, I gained a lot of in-depth technical knowledge over the last 25 years, which helps me to fulfil these responsibilities.

Cyber Security

Profound knowledge of many domains of the ICT security such as, security architecture and design, telecommunication and network security, remote access, access control, disaster recovery planning and business continuity, cryptography, applications security, information security and risk management, legal and forensic investigation, operations security, physical security, security awareness, CSIRT Services, threat intelligence, vulnerability management.

Running a complete Managed Security Services environment - including the service (SLA) and contract management; developing the tools; running the incident and problem management, change management and other relevant processes.

ICT Infrastructure

Designing, installing, managing and monitoring networks with routers and switches (Cisco and others) - including the usage of VLANs and routing protocols, as well as the implementation of an adequate security.

I have about 10 years of experience designing, installing and managing Linux based server infrastructures (CentOS/RHEL, Ubuntu, Kali) including various open source applications such as MySQL, MariaDB, Postfix, SpamAssassin, Nagios, Cacti, Graylog, Bind, SAMBA, Apache and others.

Application Development

I have a profound knowledge and many years of experience in the development of various applications in C on the Windows Server platform. This includes the development of multi-threaded applications communicating using TCP/IP (both TCP and UDP), as well as database design and connectivity.

Since 1994, I am performing web development using languages and toolsets such as HTML5, CSS, Javascript, jquery, PHP, CGI-BIN, ISAPI and ASP (vbscript).

Relevant experience


Proximus: 2008-now (independent contractor)

Lead / Participant in large, multi-million-euro bids for the Proximus Corporate Customer segment. I take up the roles of solution lead, service architect and financial modeller in these bids.
I also participate in the development of the services portfolio of Proximus.

Interbyte: 1994-now (owner)

Design, Implementation, Management and Operation of the ICT Infrastructure of the Interbyte SME customers. This includes network & security infrastructure, server infrastructure and storage infrastructure.
